Città meno famosa di Matera, ma da visitare, il nome deriva dalle spaccature della crosta simili a canyon, infatti si può osservare una netta distinzione tra ciò che ha fatto la natura e ciò che ha costruito l'uomo al di sopra di essa, anzi in questo caso direi anche al di sotto, è famosa infatti per la gravina sotterranea fatta di cisterne, cunicoli e cantine, di cui solo una parte è stata scoperta grazie a volontari.
