Ciao Viaggiatore, grazie.
Hello traveler, thank you. I was in Jerusalem at the Wailing Wall, and knowing very little about Jewish culture and religion had me very curious about this practice. From what I understand and read then, the Jews put this belt, and the square boxes called Tefillin on the head, but also on the arms, during the morning prayer. Additional indossatati by the children during the celebration of the Bar Mitzvah. That day there were different. Ciao Viaggiatore, grazie. At the age of 13 a jewish boy passes to be an adult, and is risponsible for his own acts. This is Bar Mitzvah, and it is commemorated with celebrations. From this age he has to put on the Tefilin, a symbolic artefact to remember all the important commandments of the Jewish Law, which are inside the "boxes" written on pergament. It has been customary in the last 30 years or so the do this celebration by the Western wall on mondays and thursdays. |
