Lunghezza ala anteriore mm. 14-18
Descrizione: punti basali neri sulle parte inferiore dell'ala anteriore; frange bianche con tratti scuri in corrispondenza delle nervature; maschio con parte superiore blu-celeste lucente; femmina con fascia submarginale di lunule arancioni sulle parte superiore dell'ala posteriore, debole sulle parte superiore dell'ala anteriore. Il maschio si può confondere con quello di P.icarus, che è azzurro-violetto con frange bianche senza tratti neri; la femmina con quella di P.icarus, che ha frange bianche senza tratti scuri, e di P.coridon, che ha la parte superiore con fasce submarginali di lunule arancioni meno vivaci. Già denominata Lysandra bellargus
Maschio: Colore blu celeste lucente con sottile linea marginale nera. Frange bianche con tratti neri in corrispondenza delle nervature.
Maschio Rovescio: colore grigiastro con disegno puntiforme nero contornato di bianco e spazi submarginali arancio. Sfumatura basale azzurrognola nelle ali posteriori.
Femmina: colore bruno scuro uniforme con spazi submarginali arancio vivo generalmente molto estesi. Frange bianche con tratti bruni in corrispondenza delle nervature. Nelle ali anteriori tratti discocellulari neri.
Femmina Rovescio: colore bruno chiaro con disegno puntiforme nero contornato di bianco e spazi submarginali arancio. Sfumatura basale verde nelle ali posteriori.
Distribuzione: tutta Italia ad esclusione delle isole.
Habitat: specie xerotermofila, prati aridi e radure dal piano collinare a quello montano sino a circa 1800 m s.l.m.
Generazioni annuali: due con sfarfallamento in maggio-giugno e agosto-settembre.
Piante nutrici: Hippocrepis comosa, Coronilla varia.
