, 20 sec f/4.0, ISO 1000, tripod.

Well, in the meantime supercompliments for making this photo; but I was amazed ... first of all from the fact that a 200 mm managed to shoot Andromeda with so much definition and beauty, but then ... tripod with 20 seconds seems incredible to me, or more precisely, in twenty seconds the only way with a telephoto lens to avoid a jam of shapes and colors is to use a good "motorized star tracker" (in addition to the "declared" work in dark bias and flat ....): so .... how did you really manage to get this photo? 8-)

Thank you Merak. The 200mm (corresponding to 400, since I use m43) were a bit cropped in post processing, while the chase was done with a minitrack lx II that manages the weight of my equipment very well.

8-) ah, ok, you also had the "minitrack"!: now everything comes back to me 8-) ; anyway congratulations, hello, giancarlo

Dear Alan, back on this photo 8-) to which, in these days I continued to think ... 8-) ...: the photo you took with a mirrorless .... I was wondering: how was it possible to "see" in the screen (or in the viewfinder) the dim image of the galaxy? I with binoculars I can see it distinctly, but when I tried with my camera to photograph eg some constellation .... I didn't see anything on the screen... do you also have a spotting stick associated with the camera? 8-)

Actually I went by attempts... even with the naked eye it is difficult to see it, especially from the city. I located the area of the sky where it was supposed to be, I positioned the camera and pointed the lens and I started taking individual test shots. In viewing the evidence, enlarging the image on the camera screen (when, after a few attempts, it entered the frame) you could see the halo of the galaxy. At that point with other test shots I perfected the positioning of the camera until it was in a slightly decentralized position and I started the series.
