First attempt Startrail sent on October 13, 2012 (14:47) by Andrea Iacomi. 11 comments, 1490 views. [retina]

, 30 sec f/2.8, ISO 1600, tripod.

For next time ...
The fixed star ... is nothing more than the North Star ... it is the brightest star in the Little Dipper and to retrieve it you will find the Big Dipper, then imagine a line connecting the two stars at the front of the wagon and will continue to about five times up to the brightest star ... the North Star!
I do not know if you ... but it is clear to understand you just see the image:

salute.leonardo.it/osservare-le-stelle-la-stella-polare/

As regards the execution of the Startrail instead ...
As you can see for yourself, in the wake of the stars is interrupted several times ... this is because the shots were not carried out in perfect sequence ... or you let the passage of time between shots and more!
To perform the shots in succession you will need to set the continuous shooting / burst and lock itand the shutter button on your remote control!

Moreover, in my opinion, you have chosen a rather affected by light pollution ... if you want to get rid of that reddish inside of your night shots ... look for areas that are very dark!

As for the composition, I would have tried to take the cross from the base ... including maybe a small piece of land!

Hello, Daniel!

Thank you so much for the last advice .. But heck, I thought 1800 meters were sufficient to eliminate the 'light pollution.

probably would have had less pollution doing more shots of less seconds, in this way capture less light for single shot but the sum of the time captured remains the same .. but most are new to you, I have yet to try my hand with the Startrail ... if the stopped piovereeeeee

enough even less, if there are no large cities nearby. And not even enough in 3000 if there is a very enlightened. The mist also increases the effect of the diffusion of light. Reduce the time can serve up to a certain point, take less light pollution, but also less stars. If you do not want the light pollution that takes no saint, you have to go where there is none! In this picture, however, is not unpleasant, it adds drama to the photo. I agree on the composition, perhaps better to take the entire cross with a little 'of land.

For the "fixed star" (Polaris) is not required to be included in the frame, even sometimes obtainNgono interesting effects without it, as in your case: you shoot an area close to the equator, so you see the traces in the upper curve upwards (around the North Pole, which coincides more or less with Polaris) and those in low bend down (South Pole), while those at the center appear almost parallel.

The only thing I really changed in your image are the breaks in the trails, which as I have already said Siamomatticiao, are obtained by taking successive intervals between shots without the other.

As a first attempt is not bad! I neophyte in the field of Startrail and some tips are very useful! Wow then for no interruption not even have to remove the frames with airplane contrails!?

For there is no light pollution altitude that takes .. my first Startrail I did at 2700 meters, but the glow of the valleys around is present (http://www.flickr.com/photos/aledegra/7603485128/in/photostream/lightbox/) there as well! not to mention the disruption of the trails ;-)!
a greeting

would be better not to delete anything, unfortunately just missing a frame that already the gaps are seen. The best thing would be to clone any air from the frames in which they appear, at least the most intrusive. Weaker ones often end up covered by the strips. It 'a lot of work, but having the trails without interruption and without pay aircraft work. Your Startrail the lake is very nice, if you can do it again without voids will be wonderful.

I could not agree with Astro_kiara ... great achievement!

When you want to exclude trails of airplanes lights or unexpected, perhaps due to the passage of a car nearby ... intervene on single frame cloning the trail or dimming the light area ... so doing preserverai the continuity of the trails ... and going to train the great is your patience:-D!
