Il palazzo del re Minosse, o forse sarebbe meglio dire "dei re", in quanto qualcuno teorizza che Minosse fosse la qualifica dei rei Minoici, come il Faraone per gli antichi Egizi, si trova a Knossos, località nel centro settentrionale dell'isola, a 5 km da Heraclion, capoluogo di Creta. Sembra che questo palazzo sia stato distrutto da numerosi terremoti, il più devastante dei quali fu quello avvenuto nella metà del secondo millennio A.C. identificato come l'eruzione del vulcano Thera dell'isola di Santorini.
