Questa piccola farfalla arancione, appartenente alla Famiglia degli Esperidi, è in grado di formare colonie composte da un diverso numero di individui. Presenta una sola generazione annuale ed è possibile osservare gli adulti in volo tra giugno ed agosto. Frequenta abitualmente prati fioriti e margini di boschi. Il bruco si nutre a spese di diverse specie di Graminacee. L'adulto invece lo si trova spesso posato sui fiori di trifoglio o di cardo. Il maschio è più attivo della femmina ed è territoriale.
