Questi cavalli sono dotati di zoccoli larghi e di arti relativamente brevi e pertanto si muovono con facilità nel fango molle e nell’acqua. Nell’Isola della Cona vivono due gruppi di cavalli Camargue: uno è stato addestrato per essere utilizzato nelle visite guidate, nella vigilanza e nei lavori di manutenzione e l’altro è lasciato allo stato brado più o meno libero di muoversi a suo piacimento ad eccezione delle aree nelle quali vi sono canneti e boschi in fase di sviluppo.
