, 1/500 f/7.1, ISO 1600, hand held.

I make the assumption that you were not in the wind, otherwise you would not have met neither in front nor behind ... would run away ... I say from experience ...

Cristiano do not know because I was one of the straws and the high grass 1mt., I had already seen other times always in the early morning but it had been much farther.
However assure me that if they can not hear you approaching?
I gave up at other times to go into alone because there are so many that I would not have a close encounter.
Hi Massimo ;-) :-( :-(

If you feel run away ... the only risk situation might be a female with babies or if they have no way out ... it happened to me also to find myself in front of a female and four cubs biggish ... as soon as I have seen (and it was almost dark) if they are spun racing ... just avoid areas where they have holes in the period of the litters ... and still going badly find a tree to climb :-D and not try to escape ... an old hunter to hunted wild boar told me that just stop and scream to make them run away ...

Thanks Cristiano very useful your advice you have reassured me, but if I start with the shed or mobile station on the road where they spend to go eat you think changing the road?

It will likely depend on your "smell", if they feel your presence is terrenno remote, almost certainly ... although a certain rule not think there is ... how many times it crossed I've always seen them run away. But I never stationed in areas well frequented ...
