Vi racconto brevemente la storia di quest'incontro...La guida-driver sapeva di questa femmina di ghepardo con sei cuccioli ( poi diventati 5,purtroppo) che cacciava in una precisa zona del Mara: ottenuto il permesso dai rangers - che presidiavano la zona,onde evitare eccessive presenze di fuoristrada che avrebbero ostacolato la femmina nell'individuare e cacciare le prede- ci siamo avvicinati ed è cominciato uno spettacolo affascinante che si è protratto per oltre tre ore con il gruppetto intento a giocare, mangiare,dormire....In questo lasso di tempo la femmina ha cacciato due volte una giovane gazzella che ha divorato insieme ai 5 cuccioli: fatto straordinario probabilmente reso necessario dalla piccola taglia delle prede e dalla voracità dei cuccioli già ampiamente in grado di mangiare carne in quantità! Siamo rimasti affascinati dalle scene di vita quotidiana dei ghepardi ( o meglio della femmina di ghepardo, dato che il maschio, dopo l'accoppiamento si disinteressa della famiglia..) in cui si alternano momenti forti di predazione e pasto ad altri di giochi con infinite tenerezze reciproche fra madre e cuccioli e cuccioli con cuccioli: momento indimenticabile che giustificherebbe da solo il viaggio!
