E' difficile rispondere alla domanda che mi poni, però.. ci provo.
In Cambogia, innanzi tutto, non tutti i templi sono così, il complesso di Angkor Watt, per esempio, è ben isolato dalla giungla e il restauro c'è e si vede… direi fin troppo. I templi dell'isola di Neack Pean, invece, hanno proprio maggior fascino grazie a quegli alberi tentacolari che li abbracciano, li rendono più sacri. Io credo che, comunque, anche se con interventi abbastanza conservativi, un minimo di contenimento della vegetazione venga fatto, altrimenti non si entrerebbe più perché la giungla, con quel caldo e quell'umidità, in poco tempo riuscirebbe a nasconderli completamente.
In Iran il discorso è ben diverso, manca la tolleranza e ciò che viene deciso… s'ha da fare. Premesso questo, credo che lasciare esposti dei cadaveri con quel caldo porterebbe a malattie terribili, che potrebbero diffondersi in poco tempo su larga scala. Inoltre, se ancora ci fossero i cadaveri, senz'altro le torri non sarebbero visitabili!
Posterò presto immagini di Varanasi in India, dove la gente si tuffa nel Gange e in quelle stesse acque si riversano i liquami e le ceneri dei cadaveri. Immagini suggestive, senz'altro, ma che puzza! Lì proprio non ci vedo niente di mistico, anzi, lo spettacolo mi ha fatto un po' ribrezzo.
Quindi, in conclusione, non ho una posizione univoca, mi limito ad assorbire come una spugna tutta ciò che riesco a catturare con gli occhi, la mente e, soprattutto, con l'obiettivo, perché quelle immagini, così vivide nei miei ricordi, al di là del loro valore intrinseco, mi offrono la possibilità di rivivere le emozioni provate ogni volta che le guardo, quelle stesse emozioni che mi auguro provi, almeno in parte, chi visita la mia galleria.
