Hello Elizabeth, I always look with curiosity at the photos of your travel reports and read the captions with great interest!
In the photo of the sacred place in Cambodia, it seems that the Far Eastern school French has considered it appropriate to leave the temple exactly as it was, surrounded by vegetation.
In this case, however, the Iranian government has imposed the closure and modification of the rite which, although bloody, had strong spiritual motivations ...
What do you think?

Thank you for your answer, Elizabeth! :-)
In fact, I have always wondered how right it is to modify centuries-old traditions, if not millennial, in favor of an economic return or for reasons of political reasons. Even the attribution of the character of "incivility" to the rituals of another people is a delicate matter, what seems backward or unworthy to us could simply be part of a value system alien to us.
