La rue Saint-Séverin corre parallela al fiume nel nord del Quartiere Latino. E' piena di ristoranti e negozi di souvenir e gran parte del suo commercio è dedicato al turismo . La rue Saint-Séverin è una delle strade più antiche di Parigi, poiché risale alla creazione del quartiere all'inizio del XIII secolo. Inizialmente esistente solo tra la rue de la Harpe e la rue Saint-Jacques , fu successivamente estesa verso ovest dalla vecchia strada per unirsi alla Rue Saint-André-des-Arts . La rue Saint-Séverin reclamò i resti dell'antica rue du Macon sulla costruzione del boulevard Saint-Michel dal 1867, ma dal 1971 questa parte isolata verso ovest fu ribattezzata Rue Francisque-Gay . E' una delle strade più animate del Quartiere Latino, sia di giorno che di notte. E' piacevole confondersi fra la sua gente, sedersi a uno dei suoi caffè, dove fra l'altro noi italiani, troviamo il nostro amato espresso. E per chi, come la sottoscritta, amasse la Fonduta alla Borguignonne (carne da scaldare su un fornelletto e poi intingerla in varie salse) nel ristorante, dove vedete la coppia consultare prezzi e menu, ne gustate una, buonissima e a poco prezzo, il che non è poco. E siccome, come tutti ormai sapete, non mi faccio mai i fatti miei, a gesti, non parlando la loro lingua, ho fatto capire ai due tedeschi, che quello era il posto giusto.
