The ritual of the pig sent on June 11, 2019 (8:00) by Ciorciari Felice. 45 comments, 1359 views.

Camera Yashica FRII, ottica 50mm e pellicola Ilford FP4.

How nice that on Juza are reproposed historical shots, snapshots of real life...
An interesting insight into the country life. Fortunately they still resist small family realities where ancient traditions are handed down, for the rest only the sadness of malls and industrial food (for which there is really cruelty)...
Bravo happy for proposing this shot. Hi
Massimo

It was a real ritual, if we want cruel, but dictated by poverty and necessity.
Beautiful Vintage document, congratulations happy!

In those days I was little too, like those children... I remember the ritual: The animal was well cared for and fattened in the autumn to reap the fruits, there was the need and the need to provide for living and no waste was admitted, it was not about cruelty... If anything, if we think about the production chain and consumption/waste, we find it today... Excellent document, not to forget where we come from...

Nice historical document. Today, with such hypocrisy, they pretend these images for cruelty, except then leave even the youngest video gamers with mass extermination. You know, how many times I've seen this party, because it was a party. A day of school jumped, then passed for a few hours to crush garlic inside a mortar, to join the salami dough.
a greeting, Alessandro.

Great photo/document that recalls a past not too far, a story historically true that is part of our traditions.
Congratulations Happy!

I doubt that is not appropriate, you say? /QUOTE
Maybe you eat salami and ham... Just like me! So what do you say... Are we not appropriate as well??
In the countryside where I lived, in January, killing the pig was an expected and shared rite. A moment of aggregation and happiness. All this at least in my memories until the years 80.
then we became all jocks.... 8-)
In any case, beautiful evocative shot!

Dear friends, Thank you very much for the compliments, I think I have aroused so many memories, those memories that remain indelible in our minds, I remember all of the ritual of the pig, from the "Purchase" (at the fair of the country, which was held in September), to the Foragggiarlo with The Leftovers (very few, compared to the waste of today), until the end of his days that occurred punctually early in the morning, around five o'clock, where the men provided for the pressure and, shortly thereafter, women at work for the sausages, hams, lard, Black pudding etc. Nothing was thrown! I remember the grandmother who organized the whole thing in a perfect way; Still in the country house I have tools that remind me of those days... Of the time that was. Thanks again for your attention, hello

I saw it many years ago in Basilicata! A true ritual of anthropological nature. A human history. Bravo Happy

That you remember.... Even my grandfather once a year called the Nocino and.... Sausages and Salamini. We children were attending.... Other times! A testimony that is part of our history, as important as a documentary. A greeting Barbara.
