, 1/320 f/4.5, ISO 800, hand held. Pripyat, Ukraine.

I had seen this place somewhere... seeing it again is a punch in the stomach, after watching the series on Sky I have a little documented and read that by now the places nearby will remain forever uninhabitable...
I was impressed to read that the people who witnessed the fire from the bridge (see themselves in the TV series) were not alive...
A huge disaster... but you've been there? But can you go there? Isn't that dangerous?
Ale

The tourism business makes sure that there is conflicting information but I think it is difficult for a radiologist to say the blessing to go to Chernobyl without long-term risks.
Then, like everything, it has its counterweight and everyone has the balance to judge what is more beautiful and important.
Photography is beautiful!

I instead ignorant ask : if it is uninhabitable for 20000 years, how come it is safe to go there one or two days :-/
And why did they build the second sarcophagus?
One last thing: the cellophane you put on the tripod manages to shield the radiation?

I would add other data:
1 mSv: Annual safety limit set by Italian law, amount that adds to the natural dose of radiation
1 mSv: Dose taken on average by an Italian for the passage of the Chernobyl cloud
40thSv: Flying from New York to Los Angeles
20th Sv: Chest X-ray
My meter totaled less than 20 .

@Yellowstone77
So when do we go?
I don't tell you how many times I've heard the same questions as you, in fact there's conflicting information around, but we really knew each other long before we went and pondered the whole thing, I'm unlikely to go back anyway.... :-)

Spooky, I would have increased the drama of the photo with more gloom , maybe a little fog and the faint light that filtered angular
