at 39mm, Posa B f/2.8, ISO 400, tripod.

A difficult photo obtained by mixing 3 images taken June 1, 2014 at the shelter Fargno, 1820 meters above sea level Sibillini Mountains (Italy) ...... The image is based on 5D3 "standard" 24-70 F2.8 to 39mm focal length and wide open, there are overlapping areas nebular shooting with Canon 20Attractions (modified Baader) at two different focal lengths: 24mm wide field and detail of Rho Ophiuchi to 70mm. All chased with Minitrack LX. The colors are those released after an endless sequence of operations to make it more homogeneous as possible (do not tell the trouble to correct distortion and vignetting ....). There may very well be that some shade is different from what one usually sees, because throughout the process I have always tried to avoid that the color is flattened.

The image scale is the same of course, shooting on 39mm ff. The dark halo a little 'it's my fault but a bit' is also real, perhaps in contrast has increased a little 'too ...

Hello Cristian, I tell you now that it is a kind of representation of astrophotography adapted to landscape photography that I can not fully appreciate why so out of reality and the normal human eye which I consider more appropriate for a kind of photo art than to that of paesaggio.Anch 'I in the past I have tried in this genre of photography (certainly not with these results) but every time I look at them I realize how little feeling between me and this kind of representation of the sky star (even if it is of my photos ;-)), I agree that in photography there is no reality but only their own interpretation, but this starry sky brought so exasperating to be able to capture more stars or constellations are possible and not visible to the human eye, however, I conceive them more in the genre astronOMIC end in itself in which of course the search for clarity and light is of primary latent importanza.Detto this absolutely respect your stylistic choices, but do not agree with some of your statements that I have read the various comments you've left

I would not like that the sky will seem fake because much less affected by light pollution than usual! :-)

Instead you seem real to you only for the absence of pollution?

The dark halo a little 'it's my fault but a bit' is also real

The second part of the sentence .. I did not understand what should be a real halo dark at night and only the outline of the mountains? But especially in a light so strong over the whole ground dell'mmagine.

I apologize if my tone seems a bit arrogant, believe me it is absolutely not my intention, just that I can not accept the explanation that you gave to the criticism that you have been put forward by some utenti.Se talk about personal interpretation agrees with you, respect you even if you do not appreciate it, but talk about reality here I see it's really hard.

I hope that my intervention is not misinterpreted, my only considerations are dictated solely by my personal taste.
a greeting
simone

Simon, I happened to ask several times now in my lectures on astrophotography those who had never seen the Milky Way, and I sadly found that many under-30 did not even know that you could see with the eye .... That's why I had no doubt that the criticism I had been moved perhaps by someone who had not had the opportunity to contemplate this spectacle now very rare, more than 1800 meters of altitude, in June to 3 degrees of temperature, after traveling many miles of roads impassable. Of course .... that the eye does not perceive all the details and colors, but I do not understand why you should not try to get it and show it! For the second assertion, darker on the edges of the mountains, I wanted to say that since the vertical walls of the peaks above the valley, they receive less glare due to light pollution (which comes frommainly), and I assumed that processing, which by its nature accentuates the differences between light and shadow, has exacerbated this phenomenon. Then all you can fix in the pipeline, but I preferred not to go further. Greetings!

Everyone has his own point of view, and everyone is free to draw pictures as he wants to get an effect.
The ability to capture an image is important, but so too is that of postprodurre.
In my hand I smile when I see criticism of crazy pictures like that, do not get me wrong, the taste is taste, and if one does not like the way it is.
The thing that bothers me a little bit, by those who do not appreciate the photo, is to not appreciate the effort! Okay do not like the photo, there is, however imagine the drudgery made to get up there, to prepare the equipment, to capture the moment and finally to the hours spent in the post to balance the situation that certainly is complicated with multiple photos, let alone with more & ugrave; cameras.
I like the pictures, and much, if I think of the effort made then, I like it even more.
In fact, if you had a blog or want to explain a bit more about the composition and instrumentation used, I would be grateful.
For my part I have all the admiration of a novice who wants to learn how to make astrophotos like yours, with a WOW factor like ;-)

@ Commissario71 my comment was not directed to your opinion in the first place, you were pretty clear, but to others, in fact I have to make my culpa because I was too general.
With regard to Bolivia, I can not help but envy such a chance to shoot in places like that.
And I can not wait to see some shots.
Astrophotography this is starting to get interested now, and I'm at the stage where I like both of those representations as christian, and those of other photographers more realistic, the blame was a bit of Ivan Pedretti and his pictures ...

That the sky is spectacular there's no doubt ;-)
But I do not see a good match with a landscape at different focal sizes and different proportions and then
First and foremost is too bright and has that black line that suggests the manipulation ;-)
That said I think it is a photo of astrophotography and even landscape.
But his position would PHOTOART.
A greeting

The result is so striking as unnatural!
Have you been honest to tell in detail the means of achieving that result. Well I would see the good in photo-art.

The photo is certainly of those who do remain open mouth or, as they say, with a big WOW factor.
There are practical astro photography but I'm sure the end result is the result of a great deal of post-production and special attention during shooting, a result which, I believe, few would know to get.

And 'out of the question that the naked eye does not come close to such a remark, does not work even with a good camera if you do not know what to do before and after shooting. For me this is a picture that wants to show the magnificence of the starry sky treading deliberately hand to highlight all the details that you would not see with the naked eye, the insertion of the mountains I see it a bit 'as a setting for an attempt to give the proportions recognizable to the scene represented, the lightingand the mountains is clearly excessive, but I see it in tune with the rest of the image.
Anyone using layer masks to blend several shots knows that aura of the mountains is not natural, we're not here to remove stains leopards :-) :-) ;-)

Overall, I appreciate that this photo might not be a picture of pure astronomy, but I have the knowledge to be able to say, and certainly not a picture of landscape as a landscape so you do not see on this planet, no light pollution or , for sure there are pictures of landscape as manipulated highly unlikely that are regularly included in that section and took the most for good.
I myself just today I put a picture of a storm at sunset which is the result of multiple exposures, some to capture the entiredynamic range to be merged then in PS and one without moving the camera, made a long time just to be able to capture the lightning.
It 'a trick, a bit' as to the technique used by the author of this photo, but made with the intent to represent the scene unfolding before my eyes.

This picture is a bit 'over the reality but I'll take it for a chance to see what you normally can not see, the use of technology to help us discover what lies beyond the sky, and this for me the author managed it very well and I appreciate it.
Unnecessary and counterproductive, however, want to pass the photo to plausible, it is not and it is right that this is so, it is a hymn to the glory of creation, a kind of augmented reality, of time to reflessione.
For me, might as well go in the landscape since the end is no longer far away from the reality of others that we see in that section, and I have nothing against the post production.

In conclusion (finally!) I congratulate you on the technique used and for showing me something that I can only guess, for me, is a picture that is worth to see and to dream a little. '
hello :-)

Thanks to all of you for paying attention to this, however my photos or photo-art, however you like. I would only like to point out, x Integra, that the scale image for heaven and earth is real, or 39mm on ff, as already written. If not then I superimposed just as well the other images to that of the base, there can be, and I already wrote that I had difficulty in doing so.

I do not see anything wrong with the photo of Cristian, the end is how it un'hdr, has only added to the actual colors of the things that the naked eye can not see. Astrophotography and not Photoart.
I repeat that I think is FANTASTIC!!

Thanks Switosky, keep in mind that the colors "real" are always relative to the type of sensor (or eye) watching them, so difficult to establish with absolute certainty. This more than anything else to "prevent" further, boring threads! ;-)

Reading the various comments I naturally get compliments, especially for the commitment, time and effort required to get a photo pass at 1800 meters above sea level and as your ... I'm new in the world of photography and I do not yet ventured into the genre of astrophotography though attracts me a lot, I find the photo really interesting, I hope to give you a compliment by telling you that one day I hope to be able to take pictures like yours!

I thank all those who have already appreciated this as it is born. On the basis of some criticism received, I wanted to revise slightly the upper part of the mountains, I think that in this version is more balanced. Sometimes the hustle plays tricks, a few extra minutes of processing and I would have avoided much discussion! ;-)
