Female Mallards "simulation" sent on July 03, 2013 (16:14) by Bal. 51 comments, 3409 views.

, 1/1000 f/5.6, ISO 100, hand held. Specie: Charadrius alexandrinus

It really is not trying to distract you :-); This behavior is just the algebraic sum of the drive to hatching and the flight.

Francis thanks for the ride. The behavior of the refectory but the rest of my idea, he tried in every way to "swerve" ;-):-D

What is the end result Bal reconsidered in the light of our humanise; evolutionarily has achieved the result that you say but the explanation at the time considered to be phylogenetically is the one that I told you.

I am not a specialist on the subject, then you refer to me as an ornithologist said. The latter, which carries out supervisory activities in a project to protect the snowy plover, told me that this attitude is typical against all predators, foxes, dogs or seagulls. For the rest I do not know. Greetings, Antonio.

No problem :-) Antonio. I try to explain; selection has rewarded that behavior which actually translates into action that leads the predator away from the nest. We can hypothesize that the top a number of subjects fled in front of a fox say no parade; result was that the eggs were easily spotted and eaten; others have inadvertently come up with the antipredator behavior. In the long run they ended up only reproduce the seconds when simulating injuries do not intend to do that but it seems that they are simply caught in a conflict: den (which is open wings to cover) or run away (hence the removal of the nest)?
This hypothesis is well shared but still hypothesis; is dancing the same evolutionary theory. Many people have concerns about the time that it takes for example.

Thanks Francis, now everything is clear. A more plausible hypothesis 8-):-D Greetings and thanks for the explanation, Antonio.

Many beautiful photos do not say much because they do not have a history ... this immediately caught my attention, and I wondered if that poor bird had something, given the position. The shot from above expresses its proximity and the fact that it did not intend to run away. Your explanation closes the circle. Bravo!
