Paleokastritsa è una delle mete più turistiche di Corfù, ma non aspettatevi il classico borgo greco con una cascata di casette bianche lungo le pendici di un monte a picco sul mare. Paleokastritsa non è un villaggio con un centro storico, ma un gruppo di case sparse qua e là in una delle aree paesaggisticamente più belle dell'isola. Siamo al centro di Corfù, lungo la costa ovest, rocciosa e frastagliata. I promontori che sovrastano le baie e cale della zona sono ricoperti di una lussureggiante vegetazione; il mare si colora di incantevoli tonalità di blu. Lungo la costa si aprono numerose baie e insenature, con spiagge sabbiose o di ciottoli considerate tra le più belle dell'isola. Solo una è raggiungibile in auto, per le altre l'unica via d'accesso è il mare. Val la pena anche regalarsi una gita in barca per ammirare non solo le incantevoli spiagge ma anche le numerose grotte marine.
