Un museo in un fiore di loto gigante (l'ArtScience Museum), una nave che galleggia nell'aria, un parco di alberi-robot. Il nuovo volto di Singapore è un “luna park” avveniristico sulla baia artificiale di Marina Bay: una città nella città, piena di virtuosismi urbanistici e follie green, dove i grattacieli (quelli del Marina Bay Sands, con la piscina a sfioro sul tetto a forma di nave) convivono con la natura perduta e ritrovata. questo angolo di città hi-tech ha un'anima ecologica, grazie ai supertree, le piante artificiali di metallo, felci e orchidee dei Gardens by the Bay, che catturano i raggi del sole per produrre energia pulita, attraverso un sistema di turbine a vapore e cellule fotovoltaiche. Accanto, il Flower Dome e la Cloud Forest sono due cupole di vetro e acciaio che racchiudono piante e fiori appartenenti a specie rare, provenienti da ogni angolo del globo. Il mosaico di case e insegne colorate di Chinatown, con i templi appena fuori dalla metropolitana, insieme a Little India con le sue atmosfere da terra dei Maharaja, e al pittoresco quadrilatero di Arab Street (la zona islamica ricca di deliziose architetture pastello fra i grattacieli), sono la testimonianza pulsante di un passato fusion e interrazziale. Anche nello sport , con il tradizionale cricket, la tradizione sfocia nella modernità dei nostri giorni.
