Non sempre e non in tutti i posti la vita è così semplice come siamo abituati ad immaginarla noi, cosiddetti, occidentali. Ci sono, ancora oggi, luoghi in cui manca tutto o quasi: piccoli villaggi in cui anche i beni essenziali, vitali, come acqua e luce, sono considerati un "lusso" che non tutti possono permettersi all'interno della propria abitazione. E così esiste un punto di raccolta pubblico, il "fontenario", dove, a turno, si va per rifornirsi di acqua da portare a casa con i poveri mezzi a disposizione (una vecchia carriola riparata "alla bell'e meglio"): a questo duro lavoro di approvvigionamento idrico sono, il più delle volte, dediti proprio i bambini. Sono rimasto a lungo a guardare prima di decidermi a scattare ma, alla fine, ho deciso di rendere omaggio al prezioso lavoro di questi piccoli uomini portandone a casa un ricordo. E' un'immagine che non ha e che non può avere alcun valore dal punto di vista artistico ma che vuole essere un umile documento per non dimenticare mai che, malgrado tutti i "problemi" di cui siamo quotidianamente costretti a farci carico, siamo comunque nati, senza per altro averne alcun merito, dalla parte del mondo alla luce del... sole.
