Il riso crodo è uno dei problemi più importanti nella risicoltura, a maggior ragione se la coltivazione è di riso biologico. Il riso crodo è una varietà di riso selvatico di colore rosso (riso rosso) che infesta le risaie e danneggia le coltivazioni perché cresce più vigorosamente innalzandosi oltre la coltura del riso e provoca una perdita di produttività fino al 25% del raccolto. Una volta morto, si procede con la semina del riso, quello buono. Il verde in mezzo all'acqua che si vede nella foto è riso crodo, fatto germogliare con la tecnica anzidetta.
