Hi Chris, that was my first major outing with the D850 and I'm more than happy with the performance and have no regrets that I 'upgraded'. You do need to mount high quality glass on it to get the most of the 45.7MP.
This bird was not close, maybe 12 meters and is tiny only 10cm long. Crop was something like 100% and then I downsized the file size again for posting. There was no direct sunlight only ambient light. We were on a boat that was constantly shifting.
I still have a D750 for a backup. I return to Africa in August then will most likely post my thoughts on the Review page for the D850.
