Apparato centrale del grande vulcano. A sinistra le pareti di quello che era il vecchio cratere centrale, a destra il 'nuovo arrivato'. Il cratere di Sud-Est, poi trasformatosi in Nuovo Cratere di Sud-Est, uno spavaldo cono che si è accresciuto con ritmi incredibili negli ultimi decenni, quasi a voler spodestare il cratere di Nord-Est, attuale vetta dell'Etna. Non gli manca molto e chissà se ci riuscirà a diventare il punto più alto; di sicuro da anni ci regala spettacoli di incommensurabile bellezza e da ultimo ha inaugurato una nuova bocca, il cratere della Sella, ben visibile poco a sinistra della chiazza gialla di zolfo e da cui recentemente sono fuoriuscite ingenti quantità di lava. Lava che come un lenzuolo ha percorso i declivi per riversarsi placidamente nella Valle del Bove e sul versante più a Sud-Ovest. La totale solitudine di quella giornata (nel vero senso del termine, non era rimasto più nessuno in cima) mi ha fatto apprezzare ancora una volta e ancora di più l'unicità di questi posti che sperò di poter trasmettere almeno in minima parte con queste foto.
