Così è stato chiamato questo bellissimo Faggio (Fagus sylvatica), la cui particolarità consiste nel'essere composto da vari tronchi che sono cresciuti a semicerchio. Ho cercato di capire il significato del nome e sono arrivato a questa conclusione: "trofa" (anche "troffa") in siciliano significa "arbusto, cespuglio"; "camperi" starebbe per "campiere", termine che indicava una guardia privata di una tenuta agricola. Alto circa 21 metri è anche lui uno dei 'Patriarchi' dell'Etna, infatti la sua età stimata è di 400 anni per la ceppaia e 100 anni per i polloni. Con il termine 'pollone' si indica quella parte di una pianta sotto forma di ramo che si sviluppa direttamente sul tronco o ai piedi dell'albero, a volte anche direttamente dalla radice.
