Quest'anno, esattamente il 30 settembre, si festeggiano i 75 anni dell'Osservatorio di Asiago di proprietà dell'Università di Padova e gestito dall'Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF). Fu fondato, appunto nel 1942, con l'inaugurazione del telescopio Galileo, che all'epoca era il più grande d'Europa, con il suo specchio primario del diametro di 122 cm la cui cupola argentea spicca a 1050 m. s.l.m. tra verdi prati in località Pennar, circondata e protetta da una fitta abetaia.
