Ussolo_Alta Valle Maira La religiosità contadina era molto spesso "pratica", volta a propiziarsi la protezione divina contro le malattie e le calamità naturali, poiché l'agricoltura era sinonimo di sussistenza. La presenza di piloni ed affreschi a soggetto religioso sulle facciate delle case simboleggia la simbiosi tra la vita quotidiana e la dimensione spirituale nel mondo rurale del passato. I piloni, molto numerosi e in gran parte posteriori al Seicento, potevano essere sia devozionali che votivi o rogazionali.
