I fiori dell'euphorbia milii sono quei puntini gialli al centro delle brattee bianche, piccole anche esse. E' una pianta tra le più rifiorenti: tutta la primavera e l'estate. E' chiamata anche spina di Cristo per i fusti spinosi e il colore rosso sangue delle brattee nella varietà più diffusa.
