L'essenza di questa immagine è proprio la presenza di quella porzione di monolito basaltico.
Chi conosce la famosissima spiaggia di Reynisfjara ha presente le innumerevoli foto di paesaggio che esistono di questo luogo. Esse ritraggono il monolito nella sua interezza, inserendolo nel contesto del paesaggio.
Anche io ho scattato delle belle immagini composte in questo modo, visto che in quel posto ci capito piuttosto spesso.
Qui ho voluto raccontare in modo differente quella spiaggia, ed un pochino rappresentare l'essenza delle coste Islandesi, inserendo pochissimi elementi: il basalto, la sabbia nera, l'oceano.
Sottrarre uno di questi elementi avrebbe restituito un racconto incompleto, allargare l'inquadratura avrebbe avuto come risultato una foto paesaggistica in senso classico, che non era quello che volevo.
Il risultato finale, ovviamente, può piacere o meno ma, nel voler rimanere fedele alla mia idea originaria, non credo si sarebbero potute fare scelte differenti a livello compositivo.
