at 140mm, 1/200 f/2.8, ISO 1250, hand held. South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. Specie: Panthera pardus

Guys thanks again for comments no longer know 'what to say.

Lula clearly than your aesthetic judgment on the photo and I'm sorry to see that in addition to large inaccuracies of what disturbs the animals, there are many technical errors on the photograph. Probably the leopard was fearful of the fact that thanks to the photographic permits the jeep braccarlo can also off-piste, among other things in this way, the jeep ride roughshod over the savannah area where nesting birds and reptiles which provide shelter to many animals. This probably goes much 'damage of flah.
If you do not believe me ask Juza, also present him to the jeep, or Stefano Pesarelli reaction which took the animals to flashate.
To finish the flash is not 'a cold light, but a light around 5500 K, when properly balanced white colors are faithful. You may notice differences in temperature if the light sources are of a different nature, but in that case just use the colored gelatine to balance the effect.
All this and more just to make things clear.

I think the cold light does not depend on flash, says Sailor, but the ambient light ... given the time ;-)

Guys, but we realize that we are criticizing something that hurts x nn anything?? the sunlight is very annoying and dangerous + a very simple Flash 10 meters away ... I find it ridiculous and absurd any controversy about the use of flash in nature, certainly a spotlight for a long + hassle of any other artificial light ..

Repeat the majestic beauty of photography 8-)

I say we close here and realize that we have before us one of the most beautiful photos of the Forum (and not only) on a scale from 1 to 10 (at least in my opinion)
If the criticism should be constructive, not criticized, there's nothing to build, shooting scares, cutting scares, the light management is scary, the definition is scary ..... the only thing that does not scare the cat is taken which says a lot 8-).
Than those who think differently from me, so I encourage those to open a topic on which quibble long.
Sailor is a person who has always proved correct, sensitive and open to dialogue so do not think that will replicate.
This should be covered with "beautiful, wonderful capture, great shot, fantastic" etc is covered critical, while the beautiful words to let Martini, at what level ....... if this forum is respected is for photos like this.
I hope during my experience photograficto be able to bring home at least one step thus, the praises are wasted, and words are not enough to describe the lust they feel eyes.
Congratulations, enviable, fabulous ....................................

Thank you all again, I have carefully read every comment!

I would like to specify that I do not underestimate the problem of using the flash on animals, before doing so I tried to find all the information and only after being reassured I installed on the machine, 'only I want to address the problem in a scientific manner. In this regard, thank Lauro (Ellemme) which included a scientific article very interesting topic in the open ad hoc analyzes both the possible injury (totally non-existent) and the possible alteration of behavior.
report even here the link to give visibility 'article and I hope to have the contribution of those who do not consider the appropriate flash for use with animals. I think a great wealth offered by the forum's a chance 'of further information by analyzing the different points of view.

Hello Sailor, congratulations for the photo. clear that you designed and built perfectly. When I saw it I immediately thought of miniature to your work in the studio for light management teacher.

Now a technical question, excuse the ignorance.

"You can see temperature differences if the light sources are different in nature, but in that case just use color filters to balance the effect."

IT can also be corrected via software this effect? Sometimes it is painful happened to use the flash to lighten a backlight, and the temperature difference gives me a bit 'boring. So far nn know how to act ...

Henry and Ccoc thanks. Unfortunately, in post and 'very difficult to correct the color temperatures if the subject' hit by both light sources, and while 'quite simple if as in this case the foreground and' illuminated by a source and the background by a ' other without receiving the light flash.
I saw that on the Canon 1DX announced a system to manage color temperatures in areas already 'during shooting, I do not know' if this function and 'present on other cameras and how much and' effective.

Beautiful photo, it strikes me the result obtained with the flash, really good. The fall time is usually fast, so the time and took the attitude at that moment in my opinion make an extraordinary picture. Compliments
Regarding the use of flash ..... I personally am not for use with animals, I consider that to bother me and I assume it's the same for them (human beings can decide whether to have to do all he wants to flash ). And 'advisable to follow the instructions of those who should know the animals of the area and their habits. And this sailor did. I saw lots of animals annoying, reacting running so very noble, but many others keep showing the location quietly "insensitive" to flash, usually where they are accustomed to the night safari. Years ago they used the flash to brighten the subject in backlight during the day, now with the possibility of a good PP, you do not see anymore ..... even someone with a compact camera flashes again. With tens of safari under the seat I'd like to seeere common sense by all. We have the great task before us who love animals and Africa to learn about and appreciate these magnificent creatures, if you consider that in 25 years many of them are only in zoos .... what the heck ... if you need a bit of flash, as it did with the result Sailor, I think we can accept serenely. Pardon my frankness.
Stefano
