Italy - Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso, Valnontey (2011) - Ricordo ancora quella mattina...avevo iniziato a salire lungo il solito sentiero di Valnontey con in mano la 7d nuova di pacca (già, la mia amatissima 40d aveva appena ceduto alla corrosione ed era stata definitivamente destinata al cassetto...), con l'intenzione di provarla, corredata dal 300 e dall'extender 1.4...essendoci poca neve, avevo optato per gli scarponi estivi e non mi ero portato dietro le solite ciaspole...giunto ad una curva del sentiero, relativamente ancora a bassa quota, ho dovuto abbassare la testa per controllare uno spessissimo strato di ghiaccio che ricopriva il sentiero per tutta la sua larghezza, al fine di non scivolare...ho solo avuto il tempo di appoggiare entrambi i piedi sul ghiaccio, quando ho sentito un battito d'ali provenire da un ramo dell'albero posto davanti a me a non più di 10 m di distanza ed ho visto un'ombra scura oscurare il ghiaccio intorno...dopo aver alzato gli occhi ho capito di essere di fronte (o meglio, al di sotto) al gipeto, in tutta la sua maestosa bellezza: non ero pronto all'incontro...non capivo piu' niente dall'emozione perchè non ero mai riuscito a vederlo dal vivo, neppure in lontananza...così sono sceso dal ghiaccio, ho cercato un posto in cui appoggiare i piedi in sicurezza, ho smontato l'extender e ho cercato di capire dove si fosse cacciato...si era posato su delle rocce lontane un centinaio di metri da me...guardava la valle, quella magica valle di cui per un istante mi e' sembrato il re indiscusso: fiero, autoritario, possente. Mi sono nascosto dietro un albero, sperando che tornasse a volare, regalandomi qualche cerchio in cielo e non solo quelle foto che a raffica gli avevo nel frattempo già scattato da lontano...nei 20 minuti successivi è successo di tutto...è tornato verso di me, permettendomi questo ed altri scatti, è tornato ad appollaiarsi sulle medesime rocce, è ritornato verso di me ed è definitivamente scomparso verso cime più elevate...mi sentivo euforico...e ancora adesso, questa foto mi riporta esattamnete su quel sentiero, dove nel frattempo sono tornato ca. un'altra ventina di volte, senza avere la medesima fortuna...che auguro ovviamente a tutti, prima o poi...è un animale bellissimo!!!
