, 1/1600 f/8.0, ISO 1000, hand held. Pantanal, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Specie: Panthera onca

Millle Thank you all for the appreciation! I am very happy to be able to communicate my emotions and you enjoyed my gallery!

Ivan: Yes, actually Pantanal relying on local guides the chances of seeing a jaguar are quite high, but as you say the difficulty is in the environment, often with half-shadows and forest environments difficult photographic compositions clean. In my personal case, I saw three jaguars in three days by boat (and believe me that are already long, 12 hours a day doing research), but the first day we remained dry, and I started to be nervous! :-D Of these three times, only the last has been with light and setting good (few minutes before sunset ... what luck!), And there are shots of this gallery.

Massimo: ThereI thought of you! And it is also put to swim (I have pictures but I have not yet put in the gallery) But in addition to being beautiful, the jaguar is very smart, and knows that it is better to hunt a jacaré or a Capybara rather than some little man on boat metal, and then ... you digest Sigmone ?! :-D

I understand you well, I did 5 days of boat. The first in an area where said premises was more difficult to see them and yet we have seen two different occasions in three photographically but it was not that great. The second day then in the best areas have had little luck, we found one at midday resting under a tree infrascato and one in the evening before sunset, but even he was hiding and was made to see only a few seconds. The third day it was raining, we saw one in the morning always infrattato resting, stayed there all day and we were ourselves with the hope that you muovessand until the evening that has become dark and the jaguar has given us only the head. The fourth day we had a little 'action with a female found in the morning that he was going hunting. He made a few km along the bank before entering the forest, unfortunately were 10-11 in the morning and proceeded against the jaguar. In the afternoon, then we found one lounging on top of the bank always backlit, has not moved into the evening. On the fifth day we found three, one was the female of previous morning that ran the same area the day before on the contrary, one resting in the shade under a tree and the last was a large male who went hunting and that's what gave us several hours of show despite some unexpected with the boat and the light too harsh central hours.

Beautiful photo Federico, not assume it into the open with the right light.
I was with Ivan during the 5 days of boat: great environment.

Ivan: Man, from your description I can imagine how much tension in all these apprazioni always a problem to get all the correct boundary conditions. I, too, on the second day I found the jaguar seats, and after an endless series of shots in the same positions and the filtered light I realized that I would not have pulled off anything good. Fotunato I can say I have had the good fortune last appearance with low vegetation and right light ...!

Marco: Thank you very much! Oh yes, the Pantanal North is one of those places that draws you in and charm you do not leave her. And to think that it is almost known to us in Europe, often overshadowed by all'Amazonia, which, however, with its dense vegetation, makes a firm photograph any animal. On the one hand maybe it's better that way, because St.prejudice to a place a little out dall'affluenza mass tourism and allows you to enjoy a little longer that wild than in other places, in time, failed.

Beautiful photo! I also had the good fortune to see a jaguar in freedom in Mexico (sleeping in the street and quietly went back into the jungle), but I have not had time to take your camera!

I see that many are focused on the look, and it is another merit of the picture. Because usually (as opposed Leopard), the jaguar has a look of dumb rather than predatory.

Hehehe I agree with you Marcom, I've played that is because it is so laid back, being on top of the food chain, which indulges in slippers the majority of the time. When you go hunting, however, the expression changes dramatically.

I think as you Federico: the jaguar plays an ecological role much like that of the tiger than Leopard, so it may be that it is not always on the alert for fear that some predator mightiest assaults him.
And 'well known that leopards can be killed by tigers in India and lions in Africa but that they must also beware of hyenas, baboons, etc ...
That said Marcom saying that the jaguar has the look fool me crushes a myth !!!! :-D:-D
Along with the wolf and a few others, the jaguar remains high on the list of my subjects to photograph. ;-)

:-D:-D:-D more or less the same things that we said in Portuguese ... but not before I have to go back to take a course faster than porteghese. :-)

Of course you should teach them better for photographers, are too used to tourists who only enough for him to see it and do some photo ... But we are much more demanding. :-D:-D
