The best time is during the winter and migrations. In the lagoon it is usual to see bands of waders during the prenuptial step, which coincides with the months of April and May. At this time, if the wind blows from the northeast, the birds are forced to stop their journey north and find a place to feed. The arenal of the lagoon of A Frouxeira is suitable for it and come to join here groups of thousands of individuals. Well into the winter the gray plovers and the tridactyl and common correlate concentrate on the beach. It is also an important place for anatidae, such as common and mousy porridges or whistling mallards, duck or common teal duck. The frieze mall has here one of the most stable nesting populations of Galicia. Herons and common egrets are also common in the lagoon, and with more luck may be observed during the wintertime common bittern and big egret. Among the birds of prey that can be seen in Valdoviño is the hawk and peregrine falcon, which hunt in the lagoon throughout the year. The marsh harrier is another common in the winter months. The broad dune system is home to birds as interesting as the nival scribe or the golden plover, and the winter concentrations of fringílidos, bisbitas and larks are very remarkable here.Valdoviño is one of the most interesting places in Galicia to observe birds. In the winter we are visited by northern specimens (Emberiza s.
