How to get there :From Turin take the motorway towards Pinerolo, from here you climb in Val Chisone (Sestriere direction) to reach Fenestrelle.
Visits :There are three main types of visits: - "Discovering the San Carlo", it lasts about an hour and allows you to get to know the Fort San Carlo and the various structures that compongono- "A fascinating journey inside the walls", lasts about three hours and follows the route of the brief visit by adding a part in which you take a segment of the famous covered staircase (made up of 4000 steps) and then visit some facilities in the strong (casemates, reduced and also the beautiful "the Sentry Box Devil ") -" the Royal Walk ", lasts about 7 hours and allows you to understand the magnitude of the strong covering it from top to bottom and visiting its most beautiful and important points.
Notes :The Fenestrelle !! An extraordinary located in Val Chisone, in the province of Turin. This mammoth construction consists of several fortification works and runs along the ridge of the mountain for a length of over 3 kilometers with a difference in height between the part lowermost and the top, approximately 600 meters. (I think it is second only to the Great Wall of China) To call it "strong" is not entirely correct because it is a fortified complex consists of eight defensive works. All facilities are connected with each other by passages both internal and external, but especially the famous "Covered Staircase", made up of 4000 steps protected by thick walls 2 meters, which climbs for over two kilometers along the slope mountain. A beautiful place unfortunately little known in proportion to its importance, I strongly recommend a visit to anyone who had the chance !!
