UPUPA NESTING [Video] sent on July 18, 2020 (23:13) by Pierfrancesco Mingo. 10 comments, 613 views.

Beautiful pictures, congratulations!!!
I'll have (absolutely personal opinions)... missing a real montage, which would have at least halved the duration and I would not have inserted any photos.

thanks for the suggestions, but what do you mean by "missing a real montage"?

Vengo al punto, secondo me (e ripeto secondo me) avrei effettuato:
- maggiori tagli, non delle sequenze scelte, ma sulla loro durata, alcune sequenze sono ripetitive (per esempio le imboccate)e quindi dopo la prima volta che viene mostrata, le volte successive la durata deve essere il minimo possibile;
- avrei tolto ild datario dalle riprese interne al nido, i passaggi temporali li avrei fatti con una dissolvenza al nero brevissima e poi una dissolvenza dal nero (per esempio al minuto 15,05);

Then I would start with mating, then continuing with the preparation of the nest, and then the spawning (in the assembly does not necessarily follow the chronological sequence of the recorded images),
Infinal I would have ended up with the involuntary of the little ones: missing a "spectacular" ending.
Finally it can be a stylistic choice to use only the natural sounds recorded (i.e. do not put neither a musical column nor a spoken comment), perhaps the short musical passages in the crucial points alternating with natural sounds would emphasize such "special" moments.
In any case I repeat that 24 minutes is too many for me.
How to congratulate you again.

On the cuts that need to be made (and therefore the difficult decision to discard many images), he thinks that the most beautiful movie I made "Parco Nord Milano - the ark of Noah at the gates of the city" (admitted in competition at the SondrioFestival) lasts only 10 minutes, but the images I chose to create a story had a total duration of more than 100 hours and had been shot over a period of 1 and a half years.

As for the cuts I could probably have taken a few more minutes, I could also eliminate the date, but so you realize the time it takes to complete a brood, the end of the involuntary pulli unfortunately I lost it for various reasons and I hope next time to be there, the total of the shot is about 135 hours, in any case I saw that nature enthusiasts do not get bored... indeed, for everyone else I feel sorry for them, they have to learn not to be superficial, that's what it takes to confront, in order to improve.
thanks again for valuable advice
