Nelle Dolomiti non è facile avvistare e filmare o fotografare il Gallo Cedrone, ma quando ciò avviene si è certi di aver "catturato" uno degli uccelli tetraonidi più affascinanti e misteriosi. Sapevo più o meno dov'era localizzata l'arena di canto del Grande Gallo, ma non conoscevo esattamente i singoli alberi dai quali emetteva il proprio canto. Decisi quindi di dormire nella zona prescelta, nascosto e protetto in mezzo ai mughi. Verso le 3 del mattino fui svegliato da una strana melodia, composta di tre strofe, che proveniva dalle piante sopra di me!!!! Al sorgere del sole ho potuto assistere, “in punta di piedi” e senza arrecare disturbo, ad uno degli spettacoli più affascinanti che possano capitare ad un amante della fauna dolomitica......
