Io il tramonto l'ho visto... anzi direi vissuto da Dante's Peak (circa 1600m sul livello del mare)... Impressionante. Quando il Sole è tramontato dietro la catena montuosa all'orizzonte sembrava fosse esplosa una bomba atomica. A Zabriskie Point ho vissuto l'alba e che dire... Se non fosse stato per i 45 gradi e per tutto il resto che c'è da vedere non mi sarei schiodato più di lì...

Sono stato nella Death Valley per circa 3 mesi nel 2018 e per quanto riguarda il biglietto sì è necessario pagarlo.
I punti ove pagare il biglietto sono presso le stazioni dei ranger, alcuni punti automatizzati (non sempre funzionano) oppure presso Stovepipe Wells (c'è anche distributore benzina ed un punto di ristoro ove comprare souvenirs) o anche a Furnace Creek Visitor Center (interessante fare una sosta poichè vengono fornite tante informazioni, oltre che comprare i soliti souvenirs).
I prezzi variano: se si entra con auto (se non erro sono compresi tutti i passeggeri a bordo) era 30 dollari, in motocicletta 25 e a piedi (ma chi entra a piedi?!?) 15 dollari. Questo biglietto vale alcuni giorni. E' possibile comprare abbonamenti sino ad un anno di durata.
