Valigie rigide e imbottittura

Per trasportare macchine e obiettivi uso la maggior parte delle volte una valigia rigida, come questa:

Al momento ho una Mantona, ma la sto per cambiare.
Però, ho un problema...

L'imbottitura.

In una valigietta precedente, quelle in angolari di alluminio coi pannelli di alluminio butterato, c'era il poliuretano espano pretagliato a cubetti, ma col tempo si perdevano e i fori si allargavano. Serviva anche abbastanza spazio tra i fori, i lati da 3 cubetti, per non rompere i bordi; è durato forse neanche un paio di anni e non mi sono trovato benissimo.
Vorrei poter occupare meglio lo spazio di così:

In questa Mantona ho usato fogli dello stesso materiale, da 2cm incollati tra loro, e ritagliati col taglierino, ma non è un bel lavoro.

Poi due giorni fa ho acquistato questa:

Ma non funziona. Userei solo un lato lungo di imbottitura, con fotocamera e obiettivo montato per lungo ma poi i lati corti non arrivano a toccarlo...
La restituisco.

Che posso fare?
Compro ancora quella pretagliata e poi la cambio?
Compro poliuretano espanso a densità maggiore e lo faccio tagliare in qualche modo piu preciso?
Come posso fare per tagliarlo da me, abbastanza precisamente?

Mi costruisco divisori con pannelli e gomma attorno?

Non mi interessano soluzioni sartoriali in seta e bambagia, mi serve qualcosa di pratico e non troppo costoso.
