Problema Canon EOS R con Tamron SP 70-300mm

Buongiorno a tutti,
da qualche mese ho acquistato la Canon EOS R con l'adattatore Canon per continuare ad usare i miei obiettivi EF.
Ho però un problema con il Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD, dopo i 250mm capita che la fotocamera non riesca a mettere a fuoco dandomi errore, non capita spesso, ma capita, e, usando l'obiettivo soprattutto per serate di musica live, la cosa delle volte mi risulta piuttosto fastidiosa. Con la 6D che avevo prima funzionava perfettamente e dopo il cambio mi capita solo con questo obiettivo, gli altri sono Canon e funzionano perfettamente. Ho letto che è possibile aggiornare il firmware del Tamron e che questo potrebbe risolvere alcuni problemi tra cui forse il mio, però bisogna per forza acquistare un accessorio che costa comunque oltre 70€ e che non mi da la garanzia di risolvere.
Pensavo quindi di vendere il Tamron e sostituirlo con il Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM II in quanto ho letto che è un ottimo obiettivo e volevo sapere se secondo voi vale la pena fare questo passaggio o meno.
Avevo anche valutato il Canon RF 100-400 ma per le mie esigenze credo che una lente che parte dai 70mm mi sia più utile, oltre al fatto che quest'ultima mi sembra entusiasmi meno del 70-300.
