capture one - archiviazione e catalogo: dove sbaglio?

Salve a tutti,
ho una sony a7r2 e uso capture one free. Di solito postproduco il 5%-10% degli scatti, che copio da sd a hd portatile in cartelle con data e tema; raramente torno su una postproduzione già fatta. Quando uso C1 importo le foto che mi servono, o un po' di più, e C1 mi crea un catalogo o una sessione (non so) con la cartella "originals" in cui spesso vengono duplicate le foto già salvate su hd esterno; inoltre se voglio ripescare delle importazioni già fatte non riesco a ritrovarle, e se provo a importarle nuovamente mi dice "foto già presenti nel catalogo". Qual è invece la procedura corretta, che evidentemente non applico? Grazie per gli eventuali suggerimenti.
