I want to buy a good camera but not very expensive like yours. Please suggest / guide me, as I go for NIKON 3200 with 200mm lenses. My interest is portrait and wild life photography but prefer to avoid multiple lens kit. I can stretch the budget little more if you suggest some other model of Nikon but with 200mm lens at least.
I have narrow downed my choices like this.
Please advise me which one will be better?
Nikon D5200 DSLR with Dual Kit AF-S 18-55mm VRII + AF-S 55-200mm VRII Lens Nikon D5200 with (18 - 140 mm VR DX Lens) DSLR Camera
For people who ask such questions, any camera + lens will suit fine for a couple of years. The reason is quite simple - it takes about a half of the shutter life to waste, just to learn the basics of the photography. So, while you point and shoot everything around, what difference does it make, what lens are you using? None. Lenses should be purchased when you look at your photos and know exactly, what aperture you were on and what bokeh/vignetting/chromatic aberration/DOF/etc etc. you would want/want to avoid. And miracle, miracle - here comes the understanding, what lens you want from those you can afford. So simple as that.
I use to have a nikon 5100 with the combination you mentioned. I was quite satisfied because price/quality is quite good. I wasn't satisfied with the nikon 18-200mm, couldn't get used to it. And like Alterav mentioned, it will take time to understand photography, so why buy the most qualified and expensive stuff. However, for wildlife I think you'll need more mm's. So my advice: step by step and get used with the d5200 en de nikon combo! Good luck!
I would buy the d5200 with the 18-140mm vr lens. It is very versatile and the difference between 140 and 200 in the 2 lens kit is not huge.
At some time in the future, I would consider buying the nikon 50mm f1.8g, because you say you like portraits, this lens I mention allows better low light photography and the ability to seperate subject from background very well if required
Hi Dr the D5200 is a fine camera for someone starting out on a long learning curve with wildlife you need at least 300f4 if you cannot come up with the money for a new one get a used one it will pay off then later on you can get the big toys like the 200-500 just remember its about having fun good luck
If you can stretch to a little more money why not a third party lens for wildlife such as the Tamron 150-600 or Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary lens. I'm sure you would get very satisfactory results with either mated to a Nikon D5200 and don't believe because other lenses cost 10 times more than these you will get 10 times better results. www.juzaphoto.com/recensione.php?l=en&t=tamron_150-600vc www.juzaphoto.com/recensione.php?l=en&t=sigma_150-600c
