Hi, I'm new to this forum and i'm French. My passion as many of you are photographing wildlife in general, but mainly raptors. I am considering buying a 800 f5.6 canon (I have a 500 mm v1). Do you know or have you heard about a new version? The current 800 of 2008.

In the past I have read few rumors about an 800mm II, but so far none of them seems reliable... that said, sometimes new lenses can be a complete surprise (for example the Sigma 24-35 f/2 was not preceded by any rumor), so... currently nobody knows for the 800mm ;-)

That said, it is a great lens, I have tried it and I recommend it for birds and very distant subjects!
