Nikon 600mm VR II

Dopo anni di musina (salvadanaio) starei per fare il grande passo; Nikon 600mm f4 VR II. Possiedo già la D 810 ma fino ad ora ho usato esclusivamente come tele per birdwatching il 300 mm f4 abbinato al moltiplicatore TC 17 E II. A questo punto iniziano i patemi ed allora chiedo aiuto a coloro che immagino su questa strada ci sono già passati. In particolare:
? Come va il 600mm con il Nikon TC 17 E II? ;
? La data di uscita di questo obiettivo è il 2007, un po' lontana, non è che rischio di trovarmi con un obiettivo vecchio magari fra qualche mese? ;
? E' davvero tanto ingombrante in particolare anche dal finestrino dell'auto? ;
? Ho due cavalletti Manfrotto 055 xp prob, uno in carbonio e l'altro in alluminio con montate su uno la testa a cremagliera 410 junior e sull'altro la testa a sfera Cullman magnesit 40200 alla quale ho adattato l'attacco rapido Manfrotto 410 PL. Mi sono sempre trovato benissimo con questo attacco, mai un problema ne di sganciamento ne di laschi vari, qualora decidessi di acquistare la testa a bilanciere Benro GH 3 per il 600 mm potrei adattarla all'attacco 410 PL, o sono costretto a cambiare tutti gli altri attacchi per passare ad Arca swiss?
Ultimo patema, mi hanno già spaccato i vetri dell'auto 2 volte, fortunatamente senza trovare nulla, sento che qualcuno è stato anche seguito, ad un amico con problemi di deambulazione hanno forato la gomma e, mentre la stava cambiando si sono avvicinati, hanno aperto la portiera e gli hanno rubato tutta la borsa con 2 Nikon d 3, un 600mm ed obiettivi vari. Voi come vi regolate per i furti? Assicurazione o cos'altro?
