Buongiorno
Sono indeciso tra queste due lenti
Sport in palazzetti a volte non ben illuminati
Ora uso 70-200 f4 L liscio con. Canon 1DX
Canon ef 70-300 f4-5,6 is usm L
O Canon 100-400 f4,5-5,6 is usm L
Il 70-300 è 4 fino a che focale per poi diventare 5,6?
E le focali del 100-400?

In palazzetti poco illuminati, per le arti marziali, uso l'85/1.4. Iso 6400-12800 a 1/500s

Questa è la variazione di apertura del 70-300 L in funzione della lunghezza focale:

70-103mm = f/4.0
104-154mm = f/4.5
155-228mm = f/5.0
229-300mm = f/5.6

Che lunghezza focale ti occorre? Se dovessi scegliere io non andrei mai sopra f/4. Hai pensato ad un 70-200 f/2.8?

Ho avuto il 70-300 L ed è una gran bella lente, leggera, tropicalizzata, nitida e con buon AF. Spesso sottovalutato perché nella stessa fascia Canon ha i 70-200 e i 100-400.
Nel tuo caso immagino che con la 1DX non abbia problemi di peso né di ISO (anche se non so quale versione di 1DX).
Primo, non è una frazione di stop a fare la differenza: se la foto è buia a f/5.6, non sarà enormemente diversa a f/4.5.
Secondo, a che distanza riprendi?
Sulla base di queste domande e delle risposte che darai, se c'è buio ma ti trovi bene col 70-200 valuta un 70-200 2.8 EFII.
Se la luminosità di f/5.6 ti va bene puoi trovare un 70-300L EF a meno di 600 euro usato.
Se vuoi arrivare a 400mm punta al 100-400II che ho tutt'ora ed è un portento ma costa di più, anche usato.
