Mi riferivo al fatto che alcune macchine non hanno il contatto centrale sulla slitta, cosa che rende inutilizzabili i trigger semplici che mantengono solo il contatto sincro.

Per quello mi chiedevo se l'YN685 funzionasse comunque sulla 250d. Anche perchè se dovessi cambiare flash sinceramente non saprei quale è compatibile con la 250d. Non volevo spendere più di 100-120 euro

I flash dedicati devono funzionare sulle macchine per cui sono previsti, quindi, se hai uno Yongnuo per Canon, deve funzionare con tutti gli automatismi sulle Canon.
Se invece inserisci nella slitta di una 250d un flash manuale o comunque un flash non per Canon, mancando il contatto caldo centrale, non scatterà.

però che chi dice che i flash compatibili con le Canon "vecchie" tipo la 77d non sono compatibili con la 200e e 250d

Il problema di compatibilità può essere hardware, se il fabbricante cambia la slitta, ma non credo sia questo il caso, oppure software.
Nel secondo caso il problema può essere risolto dal produttore del flash con un aggiornamento FW.
Guarda la documentazione sul sito Yongnuo e vedi se sono riprotati i nuovi modelli Canon. Comunque potrebbero nno essere menzionati ma il flash magari va lo stesso.
