Ti dico la mia: per lavorare va bene tutto, zoom quando occorrono, fissi quando occorrono, ma non esiste barba di zoom "intermedio" che abbia la qualità di un 70-200 o di un 14-24 per restare alla famosa triade. Sulla 850 (ma già sulla 800) se confronti qualsiasi 24-70 o 105 o 120, con un fisso Nikon, diciamo pure il 35 1.8 oppure l'economicissimo 85 1,8 ...ti piglia un sintòmo (Camilleri). I 24-70 in particolare le giudico ottiche "da lavoro", che danno il loro meglio sulle D4s o D5 in fotogiornalismo o cerimonie e li sono davvero ottimi e utili.
Personalmente per le cose "serie" mi farei un corredino di fissi Nikon e sceglierei addirittura gli 1,8, un po più adatti a un uso a tutto campo. Per turismo invece andrei proprio sul vecchio 24-120 f/4 o addirittura sul 28-300 che non è poi molto differente (nello stesso range). Quando si va a giro leggerezza e "tutto in uno" sono indispensabili.

Grazie Roberto, alla fine, verso fine ottobre, ho deciso e mi sono regalato il 24-70 f/2.8E. Sorriso

Non l'ho usato moltissimo ma mi ci trovo bene.
Sono sicuro che, in vacanza, rimpiangerò il 24-120, ma alla fine ho deciso di rinunciare ad un pò di escursione e leggerezza per avere quell'f/2.8 che mi fa comodo.
I prossimi saranno certamente i fissi, a partire dal 35mm, che, per quel che mi riguarda, è l'obiettivo perfetto per le gite corte e "leggere". ;-)
