Ho un Pentax 50mm f1.4 che mi piacerebbe inserire tra gli obiettivi presenti nel mio corredo però ce ne sono tanti ed io non sono sicuro di quale si tratti, sull'obiettivo c'è scritto: SMC PENTAX 1:1.4/50. Potrebbe essere il Pentax SMC M 50mm f/1.4?

Se ha l'attacco a baionetta (non a vite m42) e non riporta la scritta "M" è un serie k. Questa serie fu la prima con attacco a baionetta della Pentax ma durò pochi anni perché sostituita quasi subito dalla serie M, caratterizzata da corpi e ottiche più compatte, secondo la moda lanciata negli stessi anni da Olympus.
Le ottiche k comunque erano in genere, seppur più massicce, realizzate in modo egregio, con una costruzione meccanica a mio parere superiore alla concorrenza di allora, ed una qualità ottica elevata (e in genere sono valutate di più delle corrispondenti versioni M).

Come ben ha risposto Hardy il tu obiettivo è con ogni probabilità un Pentax K, non un Pentax M come da te sospettato.

Per la precisione è quest'obiettivo qui.

E' un diretto discendente del Takumar 50/1.4, il precedente Pentax con attacco a vite m42.
Lo schema ottico lo stesso (schema Zeiss Ultron, 7 elementi in 4 gruppi), il barilotto solo leggermente modificato nelle ghiere e nell'attacco a baionetta K.
