Hi everyone, I'm using the first Canon 1D and Sony mirrorless. Now when my 1D crossed the line of 150.000 shutter count, I changed to another DSLR. The Nikon D5300 didn't make any surprise for me, so I sold it. A friend of my offer the canon 40D with 21.000 shutter count and a EF 50 1.8 II, both for $150. What do you think?
The price is great, the gear not so much if you sold a D5300. Don't get me wrong, the Canon 40D is a great, and underrated, camera (I've used it for many years); it's surely an improvement from the 1D since it has a solid body and a decent sensor, But if a D5300, a camera 6 years younger than the Canon, didn't make it for you I don't think that the 40D will. If I were you I would look for a new generation semi-pro body that comes used at low price (like canon 100d or 60d) or a not-so-old professional camera like a 1D mark 3, 5D mark 2 or the previous version of those camera if the price is too high. It all depends on your budget
I would personally recommend the second option (the 5D mark 2, I'm using it now, comes at an unbeatable Q/P ratio imho )
MarkLazzo thank you for your comment, I will take it into consideration :)
