Hi Everybody, I'm very interesting into night shots, especially the Milky-way shots. After I was learning all the settings to do that, and having some experiences shooting it, I'm not yet satisfy with my results because the shots are not looking as I want them to be. Also I would like to know if I will need some special software to edit the shot after all. Does anybody could give some advises with that. Thank you, Daniel.
I dont think you need any fancy software. I use photoshop for all my editing. Im by no means a night photography guru, but here are a couple of shots from me:
Australia, 24mm 1.4 lens. Iso 4000
Italy, 12mm 2.8 Fisheye, iso 3200
Try to use a fast lens, make sure you are focused correctly at infinity. Use sensitivity between 2500-4000. For the shutter use the '500' rule - shutter speed = 500/focal length. Eg: 500/24mm = 20sec. You use this rule to prevent dragging and blurring the stars.
Apply noise reduction is post, and add some saturation. Colour temperature is also important, so play around with it!
