buongiorno a tutti, ho un sigma 120-400 che quando inquadro verso il basso si allunga e quando inquadro verso l'alto si abbassa è rotto o è giusto che sia così?

E' normale, quella serie di Sigma (ho avuto il 150-500 che a livello costruttivo è pressochè identico) ha il blocco solo alla focale minima; la frizione dello zoom con il tempo cede e la lente se non è bloccata si allunga/accorcia (a seconda dei casi).

oltre ad essere normale è un non problema, se lo usi correttamente la mano sinistra sostiene l'obiettivo proprio dall'anello di zoom, impedendo di fatto allungamenti/accorciamenti non voluti durante le riprese.

grazie per la risposta, ma se volessi fare una messa a fuoco manuale non riuscirei se devo tenere ferma la ghiera di zoom.....

È normalissimo. L'obiettivo non ha una frizione che permette di aumentare o diminuire la forza per mantenere la lente ferma. Di conseguenza scivola se punti verso il basso o verso l'alto. Se non fosse così, praticamente faresti fatica a ruotare la ghiera dello zoom. Il Canon 100-400 ha una frizione vera e propria che si può regolare. Il nuovo sigma 150-600 sport ha degli step intermedi ai quali bloccare la focale. Il sigma 120-400 no.
