Il tasto af-on può essere comodo per "seguire" con l'af il soggetto e scattare al momento opportuno, in questo modo hai una prontezza maggiore perchè quando premi il pulsante di scatto la macchina non ha bisogno di mettere a fuoco, rilascia l'otturatore e basta.
Se sei abituata a usare il solo pulsante di scatto puoi continuare così se si tratta di animali relativamente grandi e in campo aperto, ma per piccoli animali nella vegetazione è più comodo abituarsi a fare il fuoco (in ai-servo) col pulsante af-on e scattare col pulsante di scatto al momento opportuno.
Per il resto il fuoco continuo su 7D funziona benissimo con soggetti in movimento anche rapido, specie con lenti USM serie L, devi solo tenere il soggetto inquadrato e far partire la raffica (usa schede CF veloci, specie se scatti jpeg+RAW, almeno da 120 mb/s), come in questo video:

AF-On sará pur comodo in orrizzontale, provatelo in verticale ( su corpi Nikon). A parte che non trovo benefici in termini di qualitá. Provate con AF-ON fotografare 2 persone in orrizontale di cui una vestita di scuro altra vestita di chiaro con cielo azzurro e come sfondo lago o mare che sia. Allora a questo punto il pulsante AE-L sarebbe opportuno impostarlo come blocco dell'esposizione.

Afc ti tiene il fuoco sul punto centrale o su quello che hai scelto. Se però il soggetto esce da quel punto la messa a fuoco non esiste.
In tal caso devi mettere altre impostazioni. Sulla Nikon hanno altri nomi, fai delle prove.
