Dariusz Wolski secondo me è uno dei migliori direttori della fotografia.
Lavora spesso con Ridley Scott e ha diretto i prequel di Alien che sono pazzeschi e secondo me troppo sottovalutati.
Scott aveva intenzione di fare altri film in seguito ad Alien Covenant ma lo scarso successo ai botteghini non ha allettato le case produttrici.
Ha diretto anche la fotografia della saga dei Pirati dei Caraibi, di The Martian e tutti gli ultimi film di Scott.
Ah! Ha anche diretto la fotografia de Il Corvo con Brandon Lee.
A mio avviso, uno dei più grandi direttori di fotografia viventi.

Ieri ho visto La Zona d'interesse. Settimana scorsa ho visto Povere Creature.
Direi agli antipodi
Zona d'interesse ha una fotografia per definire la quale userei l'attributo "chiarezza" quasi fosse erede dello stile documentario tipico germanico. Non so per quale motivo mi ha spesso ricordato le scene girate presso la casa modernista in Mon Oncle di Jacques Tati, anche la colonna sonora con i suoi effetti me li ha ricordato.
Povere creature invece è un altro film dalla fotografia estremamente elaborata e postprodotta , come Barbie, ma in più ha l'impiego di ottiche particolari come fish-eye e grandangoli spinti e vintage con sfocatoni dallo swirly bokeh. Tutto molto di effetto. Però ho l'impressione che rivedendolo tra 10 anni non sarà così di impatto come visto a suo tempo la prima volta. Avrà il sapore del "già visto e digerito" e perderà l'impatto che danno le immagini troppo effettistiche, che alla lunga stufano.

... e rivedendo oggi i film di Tati mi sono sembrati avere, oltre al resto, anche una cura delle inquadrature e della fotografia straordinarie
